Admission Details

ADMISSION: No. Candidate shall be admitted to Diploma in Pharmacy Pt. I unless he/she had passed any of the following examinations in all the optional subjects and compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and /or Mathematics including English as one of the Compulsory subjects):

  1. Intermediate examination in Science;The First Year of the three year degree course in Science; 10+2 Examination(Academic stream) in Science;
  2. Pre-degreeexamination; any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above

Admission of candidates to the Diploma in Pharmacy Part – I shall be made in order of merit on the basis of

‘Pre-Pharmacy Test’ conducted in accordance with the scheme of Examinations and syllabus laid-down by the University

Scope for Diploma in Pharmacy

  1. Pharmacy Technician: Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, preparing prescriptions, and providing customer service in both retail and hospital pharmacy settings.
  2. Medical Representative: Medical representatives promote pharmaceutical products to healthcare professionals and clinics. They provide information about medications, build relationships, and facilitate product awareness.
  3. Pharmacy Assistant: Pharmacy assistants support pharmacy operations by handling administrative tasks, managing records, organizing inventory, and assisting customers with over-the-counter medication purchases.
  4. Hospital Pharmacy Assistant: Hospital pharmacy assistants work in healthcare institutions, assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing, labeling, and inventory management within the hospital pharmacy.
  5. Pharmaceutical Sales Assistant: Sales assistants provide support to pharmaceutical sales representatives by managing administrative tasks, arranging appointments, and organizing product information for healthcare providers.
  6. Pharmacy Store Manager: With experience, D.Pharm graduates could progress to managerial roles in retail pharmacies. Store managers oversee daily operations, staff management, inventory control, and customer service.
  7. Pharmaceutical Warehouse Supervisor: Graduates can work in pharmaceutical distribution centers, overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of medications to various locations.
  8. Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator: Inventory coordinators manage pharmaceutical stock levels, conduct audits, reorder medications, and ensure proper storage conditions to prevent wastage or shortages.
  9. Pharmacy Data Entry Operator: Data entry operators handle prescription and patient information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in maintaining pharmacy records.
  10. Pharmacy Customer Service Representative: Customer service representatives assist customers with inquiries, provide medication information, and facilitate smooth interactions in retail and online pharmacy environments.
  11. Pharmacy Assistant in Research: Graduates can assist in research and development activities in pharmaceutical companies, supporting scientists and researchers in various aspects of drug development.
  12. Pharmaceutical Production Assistant: In manufacturing facilities, production assistants help in the preparation and packaging of pharmaceutical products, following guidelines and ensuring quality control.
  13. Pharmacy Assistant in Clinical Trials: Some clinical research organizations hire D.Pharm graduates as assistants in clinical trials, helping with data collection, documentation, and compliance.
  14. Pharmacy Technician in Long-Term Care: Graduates can work in long-term care facilities, assisting with medication administration, record-keeping, and ensuring residents’ medication needs are met.
  15. Pharmacy Assistant in Regulatory Affairs: Graduates can support regulatory affairs teams in pharmaceutical companies, assisting with documentation and compliance related to product registration and approvals.

Safety Measures on Campus

Safety plays an important role in every educational sector. At PMC we know that every Pupil is part of the ethical framework for more than a decade. We take safety and security very seriously which is evident from the very moment you step into the college. From the time a student enters the college bus and with separate bell system for attendance check for Day scholars and Residents to a One entry and One exit system, every movement of the students are tracked to the minute.  We also have a well-Knit security guard system which tracks each and every student and ensures their safety when on Campus. With an unfailing digitally assisted CCTV surveillance we can track and trace every transaction of students. We take fire safety very seriously and with that in mind all our corridors throughout the campus are provided with Fire extinguishers and we have systematic and regular fire drills for our students.

  • Enhanced mentoring system – A well-developed Mentoring system with a 1: 10 Mentor student ratio addresses every concern of the student

All Students at our College have a right to a safe working and learning environment. For your safety, we have enforced collective agreements, health, safety, security and dispute resolution policies and procedures. These policies and procedures apply to all college activities, services, and facilities.

Students have access to excellent medical care with Transportation to and from doctor’s appointments can be arranged. Our College is tied up with a multi facility hospitals within a 5 Kilometre radius.

OUR CURRICULAM

Pachamuthu College has adopted the Semester Cum Choice-Based Credit System. At the undergraduate level the curriculum is for three years. At the postgraduate level the curriculum is for two years for all courses.

SEMESTER SYSTEM

We follow Semester System, each year is divided into two semesters. The duration of the semester is 15 weeks with six working days per week. From the third week of June to the second week of November are the ODD Semesters and from the third week of November to the end of April are the EVEN Semesters.

Policies

Every student is required to observe disciplined and decorous behaviour both inside and outside the Campus and not to indulge in any activity which will tend to bring down the prestige of the College.

  • If a student indulges in malpractice in any of the End Semester theory / practical examination, she shall be liable for punitive action as prescribed from time to time.
  • Students enrolled at our College must recognize their responsibilities towards the faculty, office staff and fellow students. Failure to maintain appropriate standards of conduct will attract disciplinary action.
  • The College believes that duty, decorum and discipline are the hallmarks of a good student. Students with such qualities alone can prove to be productive manpower with an appreciable value system. Therefore, erring students would be subjected to certain disciplinary code.
  • The following acts, would be deemed to be acts of indiscipline – any overt or covert act leading to ragging and eve teasing, disruption of class room activities or disturbing the studies of other students.
  • Harming the health or safety of staff or students
  • Misconduct during examination, production of false information or documents for admission purpose
