Overview

AIM

Our ultimate aim is to:

Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services. Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of individuals and groups in the pursuit of health, function effectively in hospital and community nursing services, and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also expected to assume the roles of teacher, supervisor, and manager in clinical or public health settings.

Overview

Bachelor of Arts in English (B.A) programme can be attained within three years of study. This programme typically focuses on imparting comprehensive knowledge and competency in the linguistic skills (LSRW) and communication skills in the English language. The degree programme helps learners as a basic programme, with which the learners may either pursue higher studies or seek employment.

OBJECTIVES

We believe that on completion of the three-year DGNM (Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery) program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge from the physical, biological, and behavioral sciences, and nursing principles in providing care to individuals, families, and communities.

  • Demonstrate understanding of lifestyle and other factors that affect the health and well-being of individuals and groups.

  • Provide nursing care using the steps of the nursing process in collaboration with individuals and healthcare teams.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills in order to deliver safe and quality nursing care.

  • Utilize current trends, techniques, and technologies in healthcare delivery.

  • Provide preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative health services in alignment with national health policies and programs.

  • Practice within the framework of ethical codes, professional standards, and legal boundaries governing nursing practice.

  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, communities, and healthcare team members to foster therapeutic relationships and teamwork.

  • Participate actively as a team member in the health care delivery system across various levels of care.

  • Display leadership and basic managerial skills in clinical and community-based healthcare environments.

They can also pursue post-basic B.Sc. Nursing to enhance their qualifications and career prospects. With experience, DGNM graduates can take up roles such as ward in-charge, nursing supervisor, or even enter teaching and administrative positions in nursing education and services. In essence, DGNM provides a rewarding career path in patient care, public health, and nursing leadership.
