D.G.N.M. – 3 Years (Only for Female Candidates)

The Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (D.G.N.M.) is a three-year full-time program designed to prepare competent nursing professionals who can provide comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities. The course focuses on developing the knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective nursing and midwifery practice.

At Pachamuthu College of Nursing, the DGNM program blends classroom learning with hands-on clinical training in hospitals and community settings. Students gain expertise in areas like medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing, and maternal health care.

The program is approved by the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council and is conducted as per the norms of the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to register as General Nurses and Midwives and work in government and private healthcare sectors.

  • Medical fitness is mandatory for admission.

Admission Procedure

D.G.N.M. Admission – Tamil Nadu (Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery)

Admission to the D.G.N.M. program in Tamil Nadu is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education through a merit-based process. Candidates are selected based on their Class 12 marks without any entrance exam.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Passed HSC (+2) with minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany & Zoology), and English.
  • Minimum age: 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year.
  • Medical fitness certificate is mandatory.

Application Process:

  • Selection is based on Class 12 marks and document verification during counselling.
