BPharmacy & Lateral Entry

B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) is a 4-year course that teaches about medicines, their preparation, and safe use. It opens careers in healthcare, research, and the pharmaceutical industry. The course of study for B.Pharm shall extend over a period of eight semesters (four academic years) and six semesters (three academic years) for lateral entry students. The curricula and syllabi for the program shall be prescribed from time to time by Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.

Admission Details


B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) – 4 Years:

Eligibility: +2 pass in science stream with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, and either Biology (Botany & Zoology) or Mathematics.
Minimum Marks: 40% for SC/ST/SCA/SCC, 45% for others.
  • Candidates must have studied English as one of the core subjects in their qualifying examination.
  • Acceptable qualifications include: 10+2 Academic stream in Science, Intermediate Science, Pre-Degree Examination, First Year of a 3-Year Degree in Science, or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
  • Minimum age: The applicant should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December of the admission year.
  • Admission is typically based on the marks obtained in the qualifying exam or as per the guidelines prescribed by the university or state authority.
  • The institution and course must be approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for the candidate to be eligible for pharmacist registration.
  • B.Pharm (Lateral Entry) – 3 Years: Eligibility: Pass in D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy).

Admission Procedure


Admission Procedure:

Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four-year degree program must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC) or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Syndicate of Periyar University, Salem.
  • All applicants must submit the original Transfer Certificate from the last institution attended.
  • Candidates from other states must obtain and produce an Eligibility Certificate issued by Periyar University, Salem.
  • Candidates from other countries must submit a Migration Certificate and a Recognition Certificate from Periyar University, Salem.
  • Students admitted after the commencement of the term are required to pay the full term fee.
  • Any student found to have secured admission using false documents will be dismissed immediately, and all fees paid will be forfeited.
  • Students who have paid the prescribed fees and choose to leave the college may apply for a Transfer Certificate, which will be issued accordingly.
  • Separate admission quotas are available for Physically Challenged candidates and Sports persons (priority given to National and State level achievers).

Every student is expected to maintain discipline and decorum within and outside the campus. Upholding the reputation of the college is a shared responsibility, and students are advised to refrain from any behavior that may compromise its integrity.   1. Examination Conduct: Students found indulging in malpractice during End Semester theory or practical exams will face strict punitive measures as determined by institutional policies.
  2. Respectful Interaction: Students are expected to treat faculty, administrative staff, and peers with respect. Inappropriate behavior or lack of decorum may lead to disciplinary action.
  3. Core Values: The college promotes duty, discipline, and decorum as essential traits of a successful student. Violations of these principles will attract necessary corrective measures.
  4. Acts of Indiscipline: Any action that leads to ragging, eve teasing, classroom disruptions, or interference with the academic environment will be strictly dealt with.
  5. Safety Violations: Actions that harm the physical or emotional well-being of staff or fellow students are considered serious offenses.
  6. Misrepresentation: Misconduct during examinations or submission of false information/documents during admission is strictly prohibited and subject to disciplinary action.
